QUAKER  UNIVERSALIST  GROUP  NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 2024

Dear QUG supporter

This is a brief update of a few items before Christmas and the New Year. We will write again in January 2025.

Annual Conference Update

We are pleased to inform you that we are nearly half full at our conference, so we encourage you to apply early – if not before Christmas, certainly soon after New Year.

The conference is from April 25th to 27th 2025 at High Leigh Conference Centre, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire and online.

The title is Women’s Spiritual Journeys and the various talks and activities will include:

  • Women, the divine and spirituality.
  • Women and Quakers.
  • Women and their spiritual journeys.
  • Women and their spiritual thinking.
  • Women mystics and art.
  • Women as activists from different cultures.

All the details, including application forms, are on our website. Please go online to https://qug.org.uk/conference-2025-women-and-spirituality/

Please either send the completed form by email (e.g. as an attachment) to contact@qug.org.uk or by post to QUG Conference, 2 Willow Rise, Haddenham, Aylesbury, HP17 8JR.

One of our committee members has drawn up a poster for the conference, attached to this newsletter. If you can, please download it and display it, for example in your local Quaker meeting.

Our next Wednesday evening meeting for worship and sharing

On Wednesday evening December 18th David Spector from the USA will tell us how the dissolving of internal stress and the growth of impersonal peace and joy fit into his life as a Quaker. If you want to come and are not yet registered with us please email contact@qug.org.uk.

Our QUG Logo

We have been reconsidering our QUG logo. It is attached to this email.

We have been thinking that the world map is somewhat obscure, especially when the logo is small, as on the front of the Universalist journal. Also, we wonder what function the arrows serve.

Do give us your thoughts about the logo, and suggest alternatives, by replying to this email or sending an email to contact@qug.org.uk.

Conference 2026

Our conference in April 2026 has already been booked in Launde Abbey in Leicestershire. It will be about music and spirituality across the world. If you would like to help plan this conference, or have any ideas of possible speakers and topics, please email Peter Varney at peterv@qug.org.uk
